The Secret to Making Friends

When I was younger--like way back when I was in the 7th grade...a long time ago, I ordered a book through our Scholastic catalog called How to Be More Popular.  All I can remember is that I didn't want anyone to know I ordered that book.  And I was thankful that my teacher was nice and did not blast me out in front of the whole class. I think the book talked about grooming habits and things like that.  But, whatever it talked about it did not make me more popular.

Now that I am older, I realize that having more friends and being a popular or well known person goes deeper than just grooming habits.  If you think about it, people who we classify as the poplular people are the people who seem to have everything that everyone else wants.

Now when I write this I feel the need to make sure its clear that presenting an image that is not real and only gives the appearance of "having it all" will eventually crumble at your feet.  Most people can see through you if you are being fake.

So the secret to making more friends and becoming popular is confidence.  In her book, Approval Addiction: Overcoming your Need to Please Everyone, author Joyce Meyer wrote, "Confident people never lack for friends. Why?  Because they have what everyone wants."

If you feel you don't have enough friends in your life check your confidence.  if you take the time to work on you ad build more confidence within yourself you won't have to worry about finding friends, friends will come to you.
