How Do you Become a Nicer Person?
62
We have all heard the old saying, "you catch more bees with honey," right?
Well I am finding this to be true. The thing about being nice is you do attract more good and achieve better results in life.
But there is also the old saying that says, "the nice guy finishes last," too right? And in the same way you see nice people achieve good results you have probably also seen them get ran over. So what's a person to do?
I have been on both sides. I have been nice, been taken advantage of, and then got mean! But I am learning that being mean can start to eat away at you inside and make life miserable. And, being nice is way better for my health. So, I am on a mission to learn some of the best ways to be nice.
One thing I have realized is that being nice takes a lot of energy! To be nice in my opinion requires you to be upbeat, energetic and have a positive outlook. You also have to make a conscious effort to not feed into other people's negativity. This can be hard.
In my day job, being nice can reap me big rewards. As a customer service worker I deal with all kinds of people daily, and sometimes they can be quite rude. Sometimes my quick tongue wants to react to the customer's frustration and negative attitude but doing this gets me nowhere and affects my job performance. So, I have adopted a personal campaign to be nicer, and so far it has been beneficial. But, it is not totally ingrained yet. I could slowly slip back into my old habits. So, I'm looking for ways to be nice, do you know of any?

Great hub, being nice is hard work! and working in customer service you are in the firing line, I bet your days are exausting!
The simplest way of being nice is by smiling, who can resist a smile:-)
Many thanks for sharing

Your hub is a reinforcement of positive behavior we should practice daily. I find it's much easier to complain and once a person is aware of that, why not lean on kindness. I think bringing out the best in people is a win-win scenario.
